What school year your character is going to be: He's going to be a college junior. *nods*
background: In a nutshell: Takuto is kind to everyone BUT himself. Very quiet and kinda shy.
He's the head of the art club in Bell Liberty. He has a habit of falling into trances while painting, thus forgetting to eat or sleep when it is needed and passes out often because of that. Occasionally, he also cuts his wrists and burns his paintings. But boy howdy does he have a reason. (at least I think he does.)
So the story goes that Iwai's father taught him to paint, then put his own name on Iwai's paintings and entered them in shows and contests, making himself a big name in the art world instead of his son. Iwai's mother never did anything about this because she was actually only the man's mistress and wasn't actually married to the man. This habit continued all the way into Iwai's high school life, so he never actually got any credit for his own work.
Eventually, Kawamoto-san, a staff from Bell Liberty, learns about all this and encourages Iwai to stop painting for his father and start displaying Iwai's art in Kawamoto's art gallery. Iwai ends up getting the strength to make all these decisions because of Ito Keita. He also at one point draws Keita, and this ends up being the first piece of art to be displayed in Kawamoto's gallery.
